Avenue Q on Broadway

Break from the Dog Show…

From 8 am until close to 3 pm dogs are judged.  Around 8 pm each evening a final selection is done.  Day 1 a few of the Group Winners were selected and Day 2, the remaining groups and Best in Show.

So…we walked by the Half Price Ticket booth in Times Square… between the Milford Plaza Hotel where we were staying and the MSG Arena and noticed Avenue Q was showing.  It is not normal on a Monday to have shows, but there were a few.

We ended up getting 5th row seats for just $67, half the usual cost each ticket.  This is the second time in NYC and 3rd overall for the show.  Saw it in DC as well.  So funny!  I was going to see about getting tickets in DC this week, but did not have time between jobs, so we settled for NYC 🙂  LOL.

If you have not seen it, it is basically a non-pc Seasme Street for adults.  Check it out!

Mama Mia on Broadway!

Mama Mia!

Wow..excellent show!  We had 3rd row center seats.  Was so cool!  After watching the movie many times, it was hard to not sign along.  The songs were great and the acting excellent.  While the movie was good, I was almost in the action!

Movie vs Broadway

A few differences I noticed

  1. Bill Anderson in Movie and Bill Ausin in the show.
  2. 3 additional songs in the Musical.

“No Photo”

Art requires compensation

An innocent photograph turned into a money making experience.

I was in central park, saw a entertainer and was going to take a picture as it was cool to see that.  Not too often in DC do you see that.  He looked at me and said..”This is Art and requires compensation.”  I did not take a photo and moved on.  WOW.. not like I was going to sell it.

Central Park Zoo – No “Alex the Lion”

After seeing Madagascar, it is no doubt that many people go to the Central Park Zoo in search of Lions, Hippos, Giraffes, Zebras, and Penguins.

I knew the park was very large, but the zoo was amazingly small.  It cost $8 to get in and no discount for volunteers at other zoos and took just 30 minutes to see the zoo.

I was really excited about the Polar Bears, but they were asleep.  It was a very nice day in NYC, mid to upper 50s, so no wonder they were not active.

The Red Panda was sleeping in a pine tree.  The penguins and puffins were behind glass in an enclosed space which made photography difficult.  Okay, I will stop, basically I was shocked by the conditions.  I could not believe how little space the animals had.  I was thinking that the Smithsonian NZP had some small spaces, but the sealions had such a tiny space to swim in circles.  Thankfully there were not too many large animals there as there was so little space.
