So apparently I am not over it yet. I should not have eaten anything yesterday as I am paying for it today 🙁
Atleast the comfort facilities are close by. The tricky part with be travelling between jobs!

I mentioned earlier that I do enjoy amazon.com for pricing and of course free super saver shipping and for years have thought it would be good to get the prime shipping for $79. Basically on items that give you free super saver (5-7 day) shipping, you can get free 2 day shipping and for just $3.99 can have your TV or whatever it is you want on your porch the next day. I usually decide that I can wait and have not forked out the $79. It is something you can share with your family, but my parents don’t order much and I don’t think my brother does either.
To entice me even more, Amazon just decided to offer Netflix style movie streaming free to all Prime members. While the selection is small at the moment and don’t own any devices that stream Amazon movies, is not enough to get me to pay for prime and possibly drop Netflix. Recently I have run out of movies in my DVD queue, but have kept Netflix as it is nice to potentially pull up a movie on my Apple TV if there is a sudden urge to watch a movie I don’t own.
Amazon does offer free movie rental credit for new movie releases which I thought was really nice. Basically to entice customers to order new movies online, Amazon gives you a credit in their rental division to watch the movie immediately that same day while they box up your dvd and ship it to you. If Amazon was able to offer new movies for streaming with Prime, I would sign up in a heart beat. This is something that Netflix and Redbox are unable to offer. Rental stores get new releases about 2 weeks before the discount rental outlets do. This is really a bummer, but at the same time may keep Blockbuster alive, though all of the stores near me have closed.
It is true that I do have a hard time passing up on deals, so combine a 50% discount website with $1 additional item shipping for all orders made within 7 days of your first order and you have my full attention.
Normally I am a die hard Amazon.com Free Super Saver Shipper, making sure my order totals $25 to get free shipping, but normally unless it is a really good deal, I will buy from a local retail store instead of paying for shipping. Firstly you can get the item immediately and usually any savings from shopping online are gobbled up in the shipping.
When first collecting biking stuff I checked out chainlove.com and bonktown.com. Similar to woot.com which offers one, usually electronic, item at a time at a substantial discount, these biking sites offer old model year clothing and gear at 50% or more off the retail price from their regular priced online stores. Since I last ordered, they announced new “combined shipping” which saves you around $6 per item ordered based on the shipping cost. When you place an order you basically have the option to hold your order for 7 days I think during which time, any more items you purchase are added for just $.98 shipping. So…since my friend was in the market for biking gear I decided to check out the site and started buying things.
So I normally don’t go shopping for clothes that often unless my clothes wear out. I am not needing to have the newest ripped jeans for $100. I had not gone bike clothes shopping since I first got my bike and was needing clothes to wear and spend much money at bonktown on clothes and shipping. So…I went on a spree this time and saved on shipping. I bought a jersey, matching bib shorts, wind coat, jacket, and rain coat. Now that my combined shipping has ended, I will hold off for a while, but I did get my shipping $ worth 🙂
OK. I will spare the details, but in the past I had thought I had had food poisoning, but after last night, I know the difference between a little too much butter and food poisoning!
Basically you feel terrible and loose liquid from both end of your body. The biggest danger is dehydration so you need to take in fluids. There were times when I felt dizzy and weak with a fever. I went to crawl up in a ball on the bathroom floor since I was spending so much time in there, only to be thankful that the bowl was near by for what happened next. It is better out than in as most will say when it comes to anything bad.
Since I don’t have real proof, I will not reveal the name of the restaurant, but did report to the DC Health Department last night and checked with my colleague who I had lunch with and he was okay which either means the chicken in my sandwich was bad, or the cook who prepared my food did not properly wash his hands after using the bathroom. I am thinking more along the lines of the chicken being bad as we both would have likely gotten sick if indeed it was dirty hands.
I don’t believe in second chances when it comes to hygiene or food safety, so I won’t be going back to that restaurant again. Bummer too since it was a historic place and had good food. Of course this can happen anywhere, but I don’t think that once you have felt the effects of food poisoning, you will ever want to go through it again.
I am lucky that my sickness passed quickly. I did take the day off from work today as I felt terrible as I went to sleep last night and did not want to be running to the bathroom or reaching for a garbage can throughout the day. Apparently food poisoning can last for up to 10 days. I can not imagine feeling that way for so long. I had a hard time getting to sleep because of my stomach cramping and trips to the bathroom.
