The Best and Worst v1.1

Best Bank – Commerce Bank

I actually think I found it! Commerce is “The most convenient bank!”All the branches in the greater DC area had staff working until 8 PM Monday through Friday, and on Saturday and Sunday. They are also open on most National Holidays.

Dupont Circle on Connecticut is open

7:30 AM – 8 PM Monday – Friday

7:30 AM – 6 PM Saturday

11 AM – 4 PM Sunday

Great lobby hours right? Let’s talk about fees.

Checking Account

  • No Minimum Balance
  • No Direct Deposit Requirement
  • No Monthly Service Charges
  • Free online banking
  • Free first order of checks
  • ATM card made in a few minutes at the branch.

ATM Machines

  • No fees when using another ATM
  • Reimbursement of fees charges by other bank’s ATM machines
  • No fees when using other bank cards on Commerce ATM machines conveniently located in CVS stores.

I did just switch over to Commerce Bank, so I will update this if necessary. I was just blown away by the hours and the fact that if I used my M&T Bank card at a Commerce ATM that I would pay $0 in fees to Commerce, though M&T charges $1.75 in addition to those of the other institution! I won’t go into the details, but emails with customer support stated the obvious. Do you think if there were an M&T ATM next to the PNC one that I would have used it? Instead I get whacked $2 from PNC and M&T charges me $1.75! When I asked why my POS fee is only $.50 at Costco, why was the ATM $1.75, the response was “because” or somthing like that.If you open up an account with Commerce, mention me so I can get the referral fee. If they ask, take half for yourself 🙂 This could be a chainletter come true!Below are the banks I have used..but be sure to add yours if you have had a better or worse experience than ones I listed. Thanks for voting and helping consumers everywhere.
